is a clinical researcher and health advocate.
He is currently the principal investigator of
a study on dietary interventions in diabetes.
Dr. Barnard is the author of many medical journal
publications and numerous books on nutrition.
He has given scores of presentations at various
prestigious organizations. Dr. Barnard founded
the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
(PCRM) in 1985, and as president, has been instrumental
in efforts to reform federal dietary guidelines.
Dr. Barnard is an Adjunct Associate Professor
of Medicine at the George Washington University
School of Medicine and Health Sciences and a Life
Member of the American Medical Association.
Les
Bolland
is a 30+ year member of the British Professional
Golfers Association and a veteran of the European
tournament player's circuit. Les is both a professional
golfer and a long-time practitioner of yoga, meditation,
shiatsu massage, and macrobiotics. This very rare
combination of abilities and experience enables
Les to relate effectively to a wide variety of
people with varying skill levels, including coaching
the deaf, blind, and visually impaired. He is
author of "Swingolf: Golf the New Way Part

David
Briscoe
is one of the most experienced macrobiotic teachers
and counselors in the world today. Since 1972,
he has gained expertise in every facet of macrobiotics,

center development. Not only has David received
many awards and honors throughout the years, he
has appeared on national TV programs and radio

Robert
Carr, Jr.
has been teaching macrobiotics for over 35 years.
His extensive macrobiotics background includes
founding the Cleveland Tofu Company, directing
macrobiotic summer camps in the Austrian Alps,
serving as head chef at the French Meadows Macrobiotic
Summer Camp, introducing shiatsu at the Ohio College
of Massotherapy, and editing the "MacroNewsLetter"
for 20 years. These experiences have brought depth
to his lectures and consultations. Currently,
he is researching alternative approaches to Parkinson's
disease in central Nebraska.
Stephen
Devine
has an extensive teaching and consulting background
in Feng Shui. He has designed and presented Feng
Shui workshops internationally for over twenty-four
years. In 1994, he founded the International School
of Feng Shui located in Amsterdam. In his teachings,
Stephen combines his broad experience as a Feng
Shui consultant with Ka-so (Japanese Feng Shui),
Directionology (Energy of Direction), Oriental
astrology (Nine Star Ki), and Twelve Animal astrology.
Mr. Devine studied with Professor Thomas Lin Yun,
a world expert on Feng Shui and Chinese Philosophy.
He is a former director of the Kushi Foundation
of Boston, where he worked with Michio Kushi for
over two decades.
Mirea
Ellis is
a Kushi Institute faculty member and the president
of Rejuva Organics, which she founded to provide
education on toxins in body care and truly safe,
natural, and effective options. She has been involved
with natural approaches to health and beauty for
more than 35 years, and has appeared on TV and
radio, and been featured in magazines and newspapers.
Her own struggles with gluten intolerance led
to her developing macrobiotic adjustments and
helping others with this condition. A practicing
shaman, Mirea is dedicated to helping people transform
their lives through clearing obstacles to success
and developing a new vision for themselves.
Olaf
Fischer
is the Executive Director of the Kushi Institute,
the premier macrobiotic study center in the world.
In addition to his business background, he is
a Certified Empowerment Trainer and Coach as well
as a licensed Massage Therapist. Olaf started
offering empowerment training and coaching after
realizing that many of his clients he was counseling
in the macrobiotic life style had no clear vision
of their lives. His unique teaching style, which
includes lessons based on his own personal life
experiences, discussions, and experiential exercises,
has empowered many people to make successful life
style changes.
Patricio
Garcia de Paredes was
introduced to macrobiotics at the age of 5 by
his mother, Kushi Institute teacher and counselor
Luchi Baranda, after she recovered from a serious
kidney condition through macrobiotics. After graduating
from Kushi Institute, Patricio moved to Japan
to spread macrobiotics through developing macrobiotic
restaurants, giving cooking classes, presenting
lectures, and publishing popular macrobiotic cookbooks.
In Japan, he founded the Kushi Garden restaurant
as well as a macrobiotic deli/dessert eatery.
Presently, he is the Macrobiotic Education Director
of the Kushi Institute of Japan. He maintains
a busy international schedule and currently resides
in Japan with his wife and 4 daughters.
John
Kozinski, MEA
has been a senior macrobiotic teacher, counselor,
and researcher for 30 years. He has aided thousands
of people in documented cases to recover from
ailments such as cancer, heart disease, and infections.
Many other conditions have seen improvement. John's
macrobiotic program for health is unique, incorporating
Eastern and Western approaches with a contemporary
interpretation. Among the many accomplishments
to his credit are he maintains a private teaching
and counseling practice with clients around the
world, is a master of the art of oriental diagnosis,
has appeared on television and radio, and is a
senior faculty member at the Kushi Institute.
Warren
Kramer
is an internationally recognized macrobiotic counselor,
lecturer, and cooking teacher. He is a faculty
member of the Kushi Institute, the Strengthening
Health Institute, and a member of the Macrobiotic
Educators Association (M.E.A.). Warren teaches
the macrobiotic approach to health, including
principles of food selection and preparation,
exercise, work, and personal relationships. Not
only has Warren lectured in such places as the
United Nations Macrobiotic Society and Whole Foods
Markets, but also in many community venues such
as hospitals, churches, and temples. He currently
has a counseling practice in Boston, Massachusetts,
where he assisted Michio Kushi for 10 years.
Gabriele
Kushi, BFA, MEA
is the founder and president of Kushi's Kitchen
in Minneapolis and author of "Embracing Menopause
Naturally" (Square One Publishers). She is
an internationally known lecturer, certified macrobiotic
cooking teacher, holistic health consultant, and
daughter-in-law of Michio and Aveline Kushi. For
36 years, Gabriele has educated people all over
the world and is a recognized expert on healing
with natural foods. She has certification from
the Macrobiotic Educators Association and the
Kushi Institute USA. Gabriele serves on the advisory
board of Earth Save International and apprentices
with Native American medicine women and healers.

Michio
Kushi
is one of the foremost authorities on macrobiotics,
alternative medicine, natural foods movements,
and world peace. He has received worldwide acknowledgment

millions of individuals around the globe in regaining

Norio
Kushi
- Throughout his life, Norio Kushi followed his
passion for wheels, from bicycling, driving a
taxi in Boston, starting a bus company in Vermont,
and pursuing a career driving a big rig throughout
North America. Through the windshield of his semi,
Norio gained insights into the human condition,
ultimately realizing that the "self"
we think we are does not exist. Recognizing the
illusion of the self, Norio awakened to the peace
and unconditional love, which is our true nature.
This is the arrogance that George Ohsawa identified
as the source of all diseases and the source of
all human suffering.
Eric
Lechasseur and Sanae Suzuki
are a husband-and-wife team that specializes in
macrobiotic cooking, counseling, and teaching.
Eric has been working as a professional chef since
1985, serving as executive chef at several popular
Los Angeles restaurants and as a private chef
cooking for many celebrities including Madonna,
Tobey Maguire, and Sting. Sanae is a whole health
macrobiotics teacher. In the last fifteen years,
she has recovered from ovarian cancer and a life-threatening
car accident through the healing power of macrobiotics.
She has since dedicated her life to serving others.
In 2007, Eric and Sanae published their second
cookbook, "Love, Eric & Sanae".
Rhea
Linda
is a dance therapist from New York Medical School.
She is a professional teacher and performer. Rhea
has performed at the United Nations and was a
member of dance masters. She was the Health Coordinator
for the NYC Board of Education where she introduced
macrobiotics to the educational curriculum. Rhea
then went on to teach Belly Dancing at Manhattan
College putting the Masters in dancing. She is
now teaching Belly Dance aerobics for the united
federation of teachers.
Judy
MacKenney D.C.Ed
is a graduate of the Kushi Institute's Career
Training Program, a Kushi Institute Counselor
and faculty member, a Certified Holistic Health
counselor, and member of the American Society
of Alternative Therapists. Judy and her husband
Larry ran a Macrobiotic Health and Wellness Center
in Florida prior to continuing their studies at
the Kushi Institute. In 1991, Judy was diagnosed
with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, medically
termed inoperable and incurable. She eventually
fully recovered. Her purpose in life is to guide
and inspire people in their quest for optimum
health and to continue to bring macrobiotic programs
around the world.
Richard
Malik, ND is a licensed
physician in the state of Connecticut and has
been practicing in Lakeville. Dr. Malik sees patients
of all ages with diverse health conditions and
concerns and regularly provides lectures/discussions
on common health concerns and natural as well
as alternative medicines. He authors a monthly
column for the Lakeville Journal, Millerton News,
and Winsted Journal called "New Directions"
that addresses specific health concerns and natural
treatment approaches. Dr. Malik obtained his doctorate
degree from the four year accredited naturopathic
program at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington.
During his training, he focused on environmental
medicine, pediatrics, Attention Deficit Disorder,
and women's care.
Michael
Marcus
has been a potter for over 35 years. He apprenticed
as a potter in Japan for four years, studying
wood-fired glazed and unglazed wares, Chado: The
Japanese Tea Ceremony, and later, Japanese Sushi
Cuisine. His ceramics are collected internationally
and used in Japanese restaurants such as Nobu
and Hatsuhana in New York City. His passion is
in the harmonizing of hand made tableware with
food presentation. He is proprietor and head sushi
chef of Bizen Gourmet Japanese Restaurant and
Bizen Kaiseki in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
He teaches at the Kripalu, Omega, and Kushi Institutes.
Tom
Monte
is the author of more than 30 books and many hundreds
of articles on healing and personal transformation.
His current book, "Unexpected Recoveries",
describes the 7 common behaviors adopted by people
who have overcome life-threatening and so-called
"terminal illnesses". Tom lectures and
conducts personal healing and transformational
workshops throughout the United States and Europe.
He and his wife, Toby, are the parents of three
adult children.
Clyde
Motosue
graduated from the University of Hawaii. After
attending shiatsu school, he became a licensed
shiatsu practitioner in Hawaii in 1979 and graduated
from the Kushi Institute in 1984. Clyde has studied
with Fumihio Indei, Michio and Aveline Kushi,
Shizuko Yamamoto, and Patrick McCarty. He is a
graduate of the Boston Shiatsu School, the Macrobiotic
Shiatsu Master's Program, the Charles River Institute's
Tuina Program, and is a member of the International
Macrobiotic Shiatsu Society. Clyde has taught
Shiatsu and Do-In at the Kushi Institute since
1985. He is recognized by the NCCAOM and is a
certified instructor of the AOBTA.
Hiroyuki
Naka
began to practice macrobiotics in 1981 with Michio
Kushi and, in 1985, opened a brown rice sushi
restaurant in Boston. Hiroyuki went to Hawaii
and studied American and Hawaiian culture as well
as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). In 1995,
when the Great Hanshin Earthquake devastated Kobe,
Hiroyuki had a deep moment of awakening inspiring
him to open his own restaurant again. Since 1999,
he and his wife Mie have operated a Kushi cooking
school. Hiroyuki is a certified Kushi counselor
in Osaka, Japan. His publications include "Watashi
no Diet or Our Style of Diet", featured in
popular magazines and numerous journals.
Mie
Naka
majored in early childhood development. Through
a counseling position, she saw the emotional and
physical problems many Japanese people encounter
today and wondered why clients relapsed or returned
to unhealthy patterns of living. In 1994, she
met Hiroyuki and began to practice macrobiotics.
Previous to her macrobiotic life, she was debilitated
with many illnesses. Since then, she has been
in excellent health and has seen how changing
one's diet is the key factor to changing one's
life. Mie has been teaching Kushi Macrobiotics
in Osaka, Japan since 1999 and is the author of
"How to Make a Smile".
Deco
Nakajima
is a mother of five children and is the founder,
along with her husband Everett Kennedy Brown who
is a photojournalist, of Rice Terrace Café.
They are also the founders of Brown`s Field, a
macrobiotic farm and spa retreat. Deco is a teacher
at the Kushi Macrobiotic Academy in Tokyo. She
has published five books including the highly
popular bilingual book, "Macrobiotic Bread
and Sweets from Deco`s Kitchen".
Abraham
Oort
is a retired climate scientist at Princeton, NJ
and has taught Macrobiotic Shiatsu at the Kushi
Institute since 1999. He has also taught shiatsu
at the NH Community Technical College in Claremont,
NH, the Kushi Institute Japan in Kobuchisawa,
and the Kushi Academy in Tokyo. He is a certified
practitioner of the American Organization of Bodywork
Therapies of Asia. Abraham has a private practice
in Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapy in Hartland,
VT. He practices mindfulness meditation as a student

Dawn
Pallavi

Papin, D.O.M. Ph.D
is a practitioner and teacher of Macrobiotics

Sheldon
Rice
embraced a macrobiotic lifestyle in 1984 before
recognizing a serious illness. His personal healing

Michael
Rossoff
has been involved in macrobiotics and natural
healing for 39 years. After studies with Michio
Kushi from 1969-1973 and acupuncture studies in

Chef
Sato
came to the US in 1981 from Japan to go to the
Berklee College of Music at Boston, and it was
during that time he started macrobiotics. After
college, he worked for six years as a pastry chef
at the macrobiotic restaurant Open Sesame owned
by Michio Kushi, and for 5 years at the macrobiotic
restaurant Five Seasons, both in the Boston area.
In 1995, he moved to Great Barrington, Massachusetts
to open an Aikido Dojo and work at Bizen restaurant.

William
Spear
is a consultant, author, and lecturer on Oriental
philosophies, Feng Shui, integrative medicine,
and life transformation. For over thirty years,
he has been recognized as a Senior Macrobiotic
Counselor. Since co-founding one of the first
suicide-prevention hotlines in 1967, Mr. Spear

Stanchich
is a macrobiotic educator, researcher, and counselor

Stephan

Will
Tuttle, Ph.D
not only is an acclaimed writer, pianist, and
composer, but also has presented widely throughout
America and Europe. Author of "The World
Peace Diet", he has also taught over 20 different
courses at the college level. His Ph.D. dissertation
in education from the University of California,
Berkeley focused on educating intuition in adults.
A Dharma Master in the Zen tradition, he has done
intensive training in Korea and has a broad background

Tzen
Tzatzoehetzin
has been trained since childhood in the 5,000
year-old Mexhika (Aztec) system of healing. He

Denny
Waxman
is an internationally known teacher, counselor,
and writer in the fields of health, natural healing,
and macrobiotics. In 1982, he gained worldwide
recognition for guiding Dr. Anthony Sattilaro,
then President of Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia,
to a complete recovery from terminal prostate
